Summary:

Suomen Malmi Oy conducted geophysical drillhole logging as well as optical and acoustic imaging in pilot hole ONK-PH28 in research tunnel ONKALO at Olkiluoto site in Eurajoki in October 2015. ONK-PH28 is ca. 300 m long, slightly upwards inclined drillhole, and this study was not only for surveying the hole itself, but it also included testing survey procedure in an upwards inclined drillhole, whether sealed or non-sealed depending on the logging methods in question.

This survey is a part of Posiva Oy’s detailed investigation programme for the final disposal of spent nuclear fuel. The field work was conducted by Suomen Malmi Oy and processing and reporting of data was done by Pöyry Finland Oy. The report describes field operation, equipment as well as processing procedures and shows the obtained results in the appendices. Data quality is briefly discussed, and observations of technical requirements concerning the survey in that type of drillhole are likewise included.
