New drilling holes at Olkiluoto

During the summer two new drilling holes have been made at Olkiluoto.

The first hole, OL-KR51, reaches approximately 600 metres underground with the second, OL-KR52, reaching approximately 420 metres below the ground. In addition, a third drilling hole will be made later on in the summer with an anticipated length of 300 metres below the ground.

Other work that has been on the summer's agenda includes making a new investigation trench, among other things, with the geological mapping of the investigation trench on-going. The investigation trench's main objectives are to give further information on the rock types and fracture zones of the bedrock, as well as shedding light on its structural trends.
