Construction and building services engineering work for local operators at the final disposal facility

Posiva has signed a contract on the construction of the final disposal facility with the Hartela Länsi-Suomi Oy consortium, Vesi-Vasa Oy, Ilmastointi-Salminen Oy and Sähkö-Rauma Oy.

The contract covers the final disposal facility’s construction and building services engineering work in the technical rooms and tunnels excavated for the ONKALO® facility. The contract is valued at about €40 million, and the work will continue until the end of 2022. The contract signed with the consortium is part of the overall project to construct the underground final disposal facility.

- In addition to the construction and building services engineering work agreed to in this context, the work tasks in ONKALO® will involve excavating final disposal tunnels, installing the requisite systems for initiating final disposal and carrying out other preparations for operating activities, Posiva’s Construction Manager Juha Riihimäki says.
