Posiva Safety Case seminar in Helsinki was a succee

Posiva Safety Case seminar held in Helsinki in mid-June attracted the interest of experts from Finland and around the world. The seminar discussed the basics of Posiva's long term safety. The seminar was attended by 80 participants at the hotel Presidentti and approximately 150 remotely. The seminar lasted a whole day.

The seminar was opened by Posiva's Developement Director Tiina Jalonen.

The seminar offered a comprehensive picture of the most advanced security of the world, presented by both Posiva's own experts and Posiva's partners. At the seminar, the authority, Finland's Radiation Protection Center (STUK), also presented the inspection process of Posiva's application for an operating licence for the world's first spent nuclear fuel encapsulation facility and disposal facility.

Safe final disposal of spent nuclear fuel is an important part of sustainable use of nuclear energy and there's a solution for that. Posiva's subsidiary, Posiva Solutions Oy, sells and consults the know-how created in the planning, research and development activities of the final disposal of spent nuclear fuel.

Project manager Barbara Pastina from Posiva presented the basics of the long-term safety explaned in the operating licence application.

The streaming of the seminar was followed by about 150 experts in Finland and abroad.
