Posiva’s new supervisor forums garner praise

Final disposal is a large complex where almost everything is interconnected. This is why Susanna Aro thinks Posiva’s new supervisor forums are very helpful to all of the supervisors at Posiva.

- Supervisor forums are used to confirm that all supervisors at Posiva have access to the same information, which is important for consistent communication. The forums also improve interaction between the different functions and units.

At Susanna Aro’s unit, activities are particularly focused on various tasks related to the final disposal site and the management of long-term safety. Recently, the focus has been on the assessment of the long-term safety impacts of changes related to transitioning to the production stage at Posiva as well as on international cooperation.

- As we are now approaching the production stage, we are doing most of the work ourselves; however, we are working together with our partners in the longer term on matters such as development of modelling tools and alternative solutions for the final disposal system. At this point, it is especially important to ensure that we retain the necessary competences for continuous production tasks as well as for research and development projects and Posiva Solutions projects and periodic safety assessments.

To Susanna Aro, the discussions with colleagues are important. Working together and having active discussions make the work smoother and maintain better information transfer between the different parts of the organisation.

- There are several interfaces and work is done across organisational boundaries. Final disposal is a large complex where almost everything is interconnected. This is why I think Posiva’s new supervisor forums are very helpful to all of us supervisors at Posiva.
